Michael Rider’s instinctual dressing for Celine
Why mention the Celine Fall/Winter 2026/27 fashion show? Because more than just a fashion show, it’s an intuitive style, a collection of desirable looks, ready-to-wear outfits that you could take out onto the street and wear right now, if only this March weren’t so summery. Analysing a fashion show is a bit like dissecting a poem. Is it really necessary? What remains, ultimately, is a collection of elements that, when put together, tell a story, a short film that lasts 10 minutes, a quarter of an hour at most. Details that leave an impression and create desire.
The Celine collection oscillates between one thing and its opposite, between simplicity and excess, between black and red, probably so as not to set anything in stone and leave the door open to possibilities.

What we will remember are details which, like words, will leave their mark and create desire: a long coat with shoulder pads, fastened slightly above the waist; a camel overcoat like a piece of loungewear that you want to curl up in, a soft cocoon offering protection against uncertain times; sculpted XXL scarves that conceal part of the face, reminiscent of the neckties worn by the Merveilleux during the Directoire period; a bell-shaped hat over the eyes to see without being seen; a leopard-print coat (a tribute to Kate Moss?); necklaces adorned with amulets; ivory satin sleeve cuffs; a small navy jumper with crocodile-style elbow patches worn like a stole; a bouquet of silver leather flowers climbing up one shoulder; feathers in the hair… Details.

But ultimately, it is Michael Rider, the designer himself, who knows better than anyone what he wanted to convey with his collection in a letter.

« Confidence. Being upfront about it.
Speaking about style without irony.
Intuition over strategy. Feeling it rather than planning it.
Sharpening the pencil.
Rejecting the idea of a “concept.”
At its best, CELINE is a style: a mix of old and new that feels urgent and dreamy.
Making the things we all dream of finding and wearing.
Something slightly off.
Strength.
A small rebellion.
Contradiction, imperfection, character.
Eccentricity.
I love when messy, complex, layered inner lives come through underneath great clothes.
Thinking about people with style who wear beautiful clothes in a personal way.
People you want to look at, get close to, spend holidays with.
People with flair.
People with bite.
Putting on clothes, a look, can change the day. Change how we walk and feel. I love that. »
