On the wings of the phoenix

Since 2018, Francesca Amfitheatrof has been the Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton’s jewellery and watch since 2018. Louis Vuitton Spirit is the fourth high jewellery collection she has designed for the company. The Parisian workshops worked for 40,000 hours to produce the 125 or so pieces in this collection. “I wanted these pieces of fine jewellery to have strong emotions and energy. Because Louis Vuitton Spirit brings together the concepts that are inseparable from the house: freedom, the idea of taking off, the notion of infinity, but also perpetual motion and surpassing oneself,” writes Francesca Amfitheatrof.
“What I particularly liked about this collection, was that I could work on the mythology of the dragon and the phoenix with a more modern, non-figurative approach.

I felt I could translate these powerful attributes into equally powerful pieces of jewellery. The Grace necklace evokes the two wings of the Phoenix, or rather the strength of its wings. There is the notion of deployment, of infinity as well. It is a powerful model magnified by the presence of an incredible 65-carat tsavorite!
We are increasingly demanding in terms of know-how and choice of stones. Today, Louis Vuitton is a jewellery house in its own right.”
