“Once a boy told her that in other places, far away, the sand was velvety soft, white as clouds. He talked about seashells and the smell of salt, the music of the waves. She didn’t believe him.”

The Spring/Summer 2026 Fashion Week was a turning point. Rarely have the major fashion houses experienced such a shake-up, simultaneously renewing their creative directors: Matthieu Blazy joined Chanel, Jonathan Anderson at Dior, Pierpaolo Piccioli at Balenciaga, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez at Loewe, Louise Trotter at Bottega Veneta, Miguel Castro Freitas at Mugler and Glenn Martens at Maison Margiela. A reshuffling of the deck that breathed a new energy into the catwalks.

This season, designers did not merely draw from the archives: they set them against the backdrop of the present day. Historical codes were shifted, shaken up, and at times stripped of their solemnity to rediscover a new vitality. Between fidelity and irreverence, each seems to be seeking a delicate balance: how to preserve the soul of the houses whilst opening up uncharted territory for them?

From this effervescence emerges the silhouette of a sovereign woman, instinctive, free in her movements as well as her desires. White dominates certain collections, like the promise of a new beginning or the first page of a novel yet to be written.

Red makes its mark with vibrant touches, imbued with an unapologetic sensuality and theatrical power. Leather becomes a second skin, legs are revealed as the slip dress leaves the private sphere to be displayed in broad daylight. As for the crop top, it establishes itself as a contemporary wardrobe essential. It’s going to be a hot summer.
